Prosthetics and Rehabilitation

In 2001, the Mae Tao Clinic inaugurated a prosthetics fabrication facility for landmine victims and amputees. The goals for the prosthetics clinic are to provide free surgical and post-operative care, prosthetic devices, and rehabilitation for landmine survivors and other amputees. Over 80 percent of all patients who receive prostheses are landmine victims. All these patients are very poor and have no access to prostheses in Burma due to their high cost.
